We’re Getting an Oasis Documentary From the ‘Amy’ Filmmakers

It’s been a good year for docs and biopics, which usually means there are more on the way. After Straight Outta Compton, Montage of Heck, and Amy, an Oasis film is in the works, coming from the makers of the poignant Amy Winehouse documentary.

According to Screen Daily, the team was given “unprecedented” access into the Oasis archives. Given Noel and Liam Gallagher’s history of excess, absurdity, and outlandish, NME-covering statements, this is very interesting, indeed. But aside from that, little else is known about the film itself.

We do know about the team behind it. Working with the film company Independent, the Oasis flick will be executive produced by Asif Kapadia, directed by Mat Whitecross, and produced by James Gay Rees. Kapadia directed Amy and Rees produced it.

The new film will be officially announced some time between Nov. 4-11, during the American Film Market industry event.

Independent managing director Andrew Orr told Screen Daily:

Oasis are without doubt one of the classic British rock bands, selling 70 million albums worldwide and defining the sound of a whole era. At its heart are Liam and Noel Gallagher, two of the finest rock ‘n’ roll stars this country has ever produced. Mat’s sensibility and style are going to provide the perfect complement to this tale of the rise of one of the great rock ’n’ roll bands.

So in other words, be on the lookout for freshly-dug-up Blur beef.
